WHO WILL MY DONATION HELP?
Here are examples of the clients your donation helps:
1. A woman fleeing gender-based violence in her native country. At age 15, she was forced to marry her abuser and had two children with him. Her husband raped and burned her. Authorities in her home country ignored and failed to protect her.
2. A child or teenager fleeing forced recruitment by an armed group. At age 15, this young person came to the United States alone after powerful organized criminals threatened to kill him if he would not help them. When he always refused, they began threatening to hurt his mother and little brother. Wanting freedom, he fled.
3. An undocumented person who crossed oceans to get to the United States because her religion is not tolerated in her native country and she needed access to the American Dream to advance her ambitions and her family.
WHAT KIND OF LEGAL SERVICES WILL MY DONATION SUPPORT?
· Your donation will help us:
defend people in Immigration Court: fund our legal services over the course of seven to ten years typically required to wind through the Immigration Court system, including referrals to counseling for clients who survived major trauma, oral argument before immigration judges, legal research and brief writing, and filing applications with immigration authorities.
defend people before U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, advocating against putting them behind bars and for their release.
